JESSE LOCKWOOD

Oregon artist Jesse J. Lockwood works across painting, stencil, collage, illustration, and found materials. His richly layered compositions move between surrealism, popular culture, portraiture, and imagery inspired by animals and the outdoors.

Born and raised in Roseburg, Oregon, Lockwood earned a bachelor’s degree in art and a master’s degree in secondary art education from Southern Oregon University. He has since balanced his studio practice with a career teaching art in Bend.

Lockwood’s process is guided by experimentation, layering, revision, and discovery. Paint, graphic forms, textured surfaces, and unexpected imagery come together to create works that reward closer investigation. Whether exploring a surreal environment or paying tribute to a cultural icon, his art carries a distinctive sense of color, imagination, and visual storytelling.
